hehe... i know i said i'd write more. There are just too many things to do in Germany.

So it's been a 4 day weekend for us this past one. I would have liked to do something more exciting, like go to a different country or something, but I can never find people in the army who have any money to do things like this. Everyone spends way too much money on drinking...

I did go to the Frankfurt Zoo on saturday though. I was with a German/Russian girl, so I didn't have to worry too much about not knowing anything at all. However, it would have been nice if she was more of the 'take charge' type of person. I am really the only american that she knows, or this is how she tells it to me.

So we buy this train ticket that allows us to travel everywhere in Bavaria, however, Frankfurt isn't in Bavaria. So we are in the streetcar in Frankfurt, and this guy comes up asking to see our tickets. I told my friend that if we get caught (knowing we were doing something wrong), that I should do the talking. Of course, we get caught, and the guys sees that I am an American, so between himself and 2-3 collegues, they can speak enough English to tell me that I have to pay 40 Euro for each of us. That was the time to play the dumb tourist card... "but the lady at the Bahnhof told me this was good for Frankfurt". After a bit of me being stupid, and phrases and comments lost in translation, all of us get off the streetcar. They ask me how much money I have, and I say only 20 Euro, (how am I supposed to get home now, right?). I do have more money with me, but I'm not going to tell them that. So they tell me they will get me a ticket and it will cost 22 Euro, because I can't get home with what I have. I give them the money, but the machine is broken, so now we are wondering the streets with these guys trying to get me a ticket. The whole time the girl that I'm with isn't speaking at all, and the few things she said, she was all quiet and only talking to me. I think it helped the dumb tourist image even more. After we finally get the ticket, they were all excited, telling me I can now travel any means of public transportation in Frankfurt, and I can get home! How very exciting! It was all hilarious to me, so when we leave, my friend was telling me they were making fun of us when speaking to each other in German, but the female that was with them was giving her very bad looks. Ha! That's a good ticket for my scrapbook now.

So I go out to a lot of places that sell alcohol in Germany. I don't like to go to places in Ansbach, because it's always dominated by U.S. soldiers, and ladies who only like black soldiers. Ansbach is quite lame for a good time. Did you know clubs here don't close until like 5 or 6 am? That's amazing to me. We'll leave in the morning, and it'll be bright outside (at least in the summer it was). We were at this place in Ansbach last night that barely any americans go to, but they play weird music sometimes. My friend James was dancing with these old nasty ladies so I could record it to video with my camera. I was looking at it today, and he walks up to this old lady on the dance floor, and puts his arm around her. She grabs his arm and pushes him away. It's absolutely hilarious. If I get ambitious, I'll try to clean up the video so you can see it. You should be laughing just thinking about it.

We have to go to the field next monday. Our location is right by where we work everyday, 5 minute drive from the barracks, how stupid is that. I guess we are supposed to move site a bunch of times though. I acually don't mind going to the field that much, but I really hate when we get back and have to clean everything. Really hate it. People in the army are so lazy a lot of times too.

It's going to start to get cold here pretty soon, snow and stuff. That's probably got to be the worst time to be in the field. I haven't had a winter in like two years, being in Tucson for one, and El Paso all of last winter. We'll see how big of a wimp I've become.

I got my guitar and my camera finally, so I'll put some pictures online shortly. Tonight I have to cut a bunch of people's hair, so I'll be busy. Everyone is asking me to play the "feed dem cows" song live now. James found it on my computer, and put it on a CD, and is playing for everyone. It's a funny song if you haven't heard it, but i feel stupid sometimes because I'm singing like a moron.

Anyway, time to get a Doner Kabab, which, if you haven't had one yet, you are definitely missing out.
Auf Wiedersehen.
