Iraqi Scud missiles aimed at Israel and Saudi Arabia. As the fiery collision of Patriot and Scud missiles lit up the night
sky above Dhahran and Tel Aviv, a network news anchorman called Patriot soldiers "Among the Army's best and brightest."It's a well-deserved reputation that Patriot soldiers, among the first U.S. soldiers deployed in crisis situations, still enjoy. Today, Patriot remains the world's premier theater air and missile defense system. It is America's and the world's last line of defense against tactical ballistic missiles. Frequently deployed to hot spots, Patriot has become a global symbol of America's resolve to defend freedom and democracy around the world. And Patriot soldiers are among the Army's best-trained and most dedicated warriors. Meeting the challenge posed by the 21st-century air and missile threat, which bristles with weapons of mass destruction, demands nothing less than the best. |
