Douglas Lyle Malcore
DOUGLAS. Douglas, and more particularly its nickname, DOUG, had a real romantic swagger in the '50s and '60s — relics, perhaps, of the swashbuckling image of Douglas Fairbanks, combined with the wartime heroics of General MacArthur. Originally a Celtic river name, it became attached to a powerful Scottish clan, renowned for their strength and courage. In its earliest incarnation, Douglas was used equally for girls and boys. The variant DOUGAL is heard in the Scottish Highlands, and a substitute for the nickname Doug was introduced on the 1989 TV show, Doogie Howser, M.D.
A Brief History Of My Life...
born into this world November 8th, 1979 at 1:56 pm.
I was told by my mother the labor went quick.
Despite my big head, and slightly larger size
I'm sure I wasn't too much of a problem.
I'm quite proud of the fact that I did not cry when born. Apparently, There was
much fluid stuck in my lungs, and I couldn't breathe. Small price to pay to tell people I don't
cry.
As a child... I grew up on a farm. I know I shouldn't be saying that, I've taken
much harrasment due to that fact, but it's true.
Started driving a tractor at age four. My dad would get it going straight and in gear,
and I would make sure that it stayed straight. I can safely say that I am an excellent driver
for my age.
Times were tough on the farm. After my second brother was born, My parents were divorced.
I can't say I remember the whole situation very well. I remember, before school i think, i was in
kindergarten. My ma went driving down my dad's lane, and I asked where Mom was going. My dad said,
"she's moving away". I think I just replied with an 'ok'. So the divorce never seemed to be a
very big deal. I'm sure it's affected me in some way, but myself and my two brothers being so young,
we just never really gave it a whole lot of thought.
I stayed with my father for the majority of my young childhood. Nothing like growing up on a
farm with no one around ever. My brothers and I had total freedom growing up. It was great. By
7th grade, my first real hobby was BMX racing.
My neighbor and one of my best friends at that age, Jeff Van Lieshout. I actually knew him
before I started school, so we go way back. He built a dirt track to ride his bike on. Very
cool was my thought. So I talked to my dad about it. He would buy me a bike if I "ended the whole
custody battle with him and my ma" (you see, I was starting to want to live with my mother). I
said "sure" and let him buy the bike. (I ended up living with my mother).
I did the bike racing thing for 3 years, going down to Oshkosh (75 miles) almost twice a week
in the summers to race. We went to a National Race in Missouri one time. Ended up taking second
place there and a huge trophy.
High School starts now. The good parts of school. It seems I had so many friends in Middle School
and everyone became different in high school. There was heavy drinking. Now, if my close friends
had been drinkers, maybe that would have been something i did. But it was such a redneck thing. I
guess that's when I started hating everything about that town. Everybody drank too much, and they
were all hicks and rednecks. There was no way I was going to let myself be compared to those types,
regardless of the fact that I grew up on a farm.
So 'groups' in high school hated me. No one wanted to hate me as one person, because i was cool
as hell. But 'groups' were not big doug fans.
But I always played baseball and football. Got a lot of awards for those two sports. I was in
a few school musicals with our now convicted child molestor teacher. Seemed cool enough to me, but
i guess that's how things would be.
After I graduated, I went to UW-Oshkosh, because that is what you are supposed to do when you
graduate. Go to College. College was ok. I had a lot of fun, but I was not a fan of going to school
for another 5 years after high school. After two years. I left.
Now I'm in Milwaukee. It's a good town. I'm starting to know a lot of people. I know the town
really well thanks to the jobs I've had.
As for the future... By this time next year I hope to be in Tucson AZ. Actually, i'd like to be
there in October.
It took a lot longer than expected, but I'm there now. Actually, I left Dec. 24th instead of
October, but things are well.
